The shoulder has a wide and versatile range of motion. When something goes wrong with the shoulder, it can hamper your ability to move freely and can cause a great deal of pain and discomfort.

Injuries to the shoulder can be causes by manual labour, playing sports, or even by repetitive movement. Certain diseases can bring about pain that travels to the shoulder.

In evaluating shoulder pain it is important that your osteopath evaluates these possible causes to ensure you receive the correct care.

You are more likely to have problems with our shoulders as you grow older. It is especially common after age 60. This is because the soft tissues surrounding the shoulder tend to degenerate with age. Normally shoulder problems can be effectively managed with physical therapy such as osteopathy, exercise and in some cases medication to ensure that you are able to get back to normal activities as quickly as possible.
